One in 160 Australian children has autism. There is no known cure but early intervention can help. AEIOU is a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to providing a professional, full-time early intervention and learning program for children aged two and a half to five years who have been diagnosed with autism spectrum disorders.
Mondial Assistance has supported AEIOU since 2006. We worked closely with AEIOU in the design and development of the original Child Sponsorship Program—sponsoring Rhyley and Preston Burr who are now attending a mainstream school—and we have actively supported fundraising events as well as donating call centre support services for AEIOU activities.
The Child Sponsorship Program has now evolved into the 10:40:600 program and we will be extending our sponsorship of another two children in 2010.
In addition to this commitment is the amazing fundraising support that our employees provide to AEIOU through social club activities and individual endurance and sporting events.
The 10:40:600 program concept demonstrates how a $10,000 corporate donation multiplies into $40,000 of funding when parental and government contributions are factored in—and $40,000 will allow a child to be part of an AEIOU centre for one year. If the child is then able to enter mainstream education, as Rhyley and Preston Burr were, the $10,000 corporate donation multiplies into a $600,000 saving to the community for the life of the child.
It is rare that a business can be involved in a life-changing experience through corporate sponsorship and this is what Mondial Assistance continues to experience in our relationship with AEIOU.
