Message from Brett Robinson, Chief Executive Officer, Mondial Assistance Australia

“I joined Mondial Assistance because I felt this company was passionate about caring for people and was making a valuable contribution to the community.  I see that care, that passion and willingness to help in everything we do and in particularly, in how we help our clients and their customers.

We also are a company with strong growth ambitions. We’ve grown from a $11 million dollar business to almost a $300 million business in seven years and our aim is to double the size of our business over the next five years."

Profiles of our Senior Executives

Brett was appointed Chief Executive Officer of Mondial Assistance Australia in September 2009.

He is a highly intelligent, passionate and charismatic leader with a great sense for opportunity and who is prepared, always, to ‘back himself’. It is these innate qualities which, in part, led the global Mondial Assistance Group to select Brett to lead the Australian business unit into its next phase of growth and profitability.

Brett’s expert management skills and experience have been framed in a high-performing, multi-million dollar service and insurance business.  Most recently he was with IAG in an executive management role in Queensland with direct responsibility for the key brands of NRMA, CGU and Swan.

His natural leadership and team-building skills undoubtedly flow from his years of experience playing representative rugby for Australia as a Wallaby.

He was also inaugural captain of the ACT Brumbies in the Super 12 competition and in total, played 16 test matches for the national rugby union team. From 2002 to 2005, he was General Manager of the Australian Rugby Union’s High Performance Unit with a mandate to develop elite players, coaches and referees to maintain Australia’s position as a world rugby power.

Brett’s ability to nurture high-performing teams is grounded in his strong belief in the inextricable links between people, teams and performance—that is, his belief that if you are able to develop people and build mutually supportive teams, then optimal performance will follow.

After completing a medical degree at the University of Queensland, Brett worked as a surgical trainee and later completed a Doctorate of Philosophy in Clinical Orthopaedics at Oxford. He is still registered to practise in Queensland and assists orthopaedic colleagues once a month in advanced joint replacement surgery.

Brett joins Mondial Assistance in Australia at a time when the business unit has exhibited several years of stellar growth and profitability. He is well placed to push the company forward into new markets and new growth opportunities that capitalise on the assistance positioning that is at the core of the company’s history.

Peter was appointed Regional Director, Asia Pacific for Mondial Assistance in November 2008 with responsibility for growth, profitability and performance across six business units: Australia, China, India, Japan, Singapore and Thailand.

His appointment to this challenging and significant regional role is a direct result of his achievement with Mondial Assistance in Australia.

Under Peter’s leadership, turnover in the Australian business grew from $11 million at end 2001 to $280 million in 2009. Australia is now ranked third highest in terms of turnover of the 28 countries in the global Mondial Assistance group—behind only France and the United States. In 2001, Australia was 23rd highest.

This success is due, in part, to Peter’s uncompromising focus on the customer and his ability to identify, innovate and drive profitability within uncontested market space.

In the seven years under his direction, Mondial Assistance in Australia has become the premium roadside assistance provider for automotive manufacturers, the leading provider of health insurance for overseas students through OSHC Worldcare and the market leader in travel insurance.

Peter continues to prioritise investment in market-pushing strategy. Mondial Assistance is renowned for its investment in people and a proprietary ecommerce platform that allows the company to continually challenge the boundaries of consumer interaction with online travel insurance.

He is also committed to strategic business partnerships where there is true alignment of core values and entrepreneurial culture.  This commitment has resulted in business partnerships that include some of the country’s and the region’s most well-known brands.

Prior to joining Mondial Assistance, Peter held senior positions with Mayne Nickless Limited and the Steiner Corporation and was Queensland State Manager for Chubb Security Australia, a leading national provider of security and fire safety solutions.

Peter’s transformative leadership of the business in Australia has propelled him into the regional leadership role for Mondial Assistance to tackle the unique and significant challenges of doing business profitably in Asia Pacific.
