Student faces cancer treatment with a positive attitude and a little help from OSHC Worldcare.
Fay Beatty has been a member of OSHC Worldcare since 2001. In 2004, Fay was diagnosed with secondary bone cancer relating to breast cancer, which she had suffered from in 1998.
Throughout her difficult medical history, Fay was able to continue her university studies, with OSHC Worldcare covering her treatment costs. OSHC Worldcare arranged a hospital guarantee, ensuring that all her accounts were paid, giving Fay peace of mind.
Recently, Fay required immediate treatment for bone lesions. OSHC Worldcare was able to assist once again, by providing a hospital guarantee, within a one-day turnaround period. Viviene Hidalgo, the OSHC Worldcare Case Manager who has been looking after Fay, immediately arranged the hospital guarantee, providing reassurance that we would cover the cost of surgery, allowing Fay to concentrate on her treatment.
Throughout a distressing time for Fay and her family, OSHC Worldcare provided much needed personal service and emotional support. Fay’s most recent treatment went well, and she is now back continuing her studies.
OSHC Worldcare covered $6,000 worth of medical expenses for Fay.
Thanks to her OSHC Worldcare Policy, Fay had over $6,000 worth of medical expenses covered.
“I am writing to express my appreciation of the way in which OSHC Worldcare have dealt with me over the last few years since commencing my PhD. Since coming to Australia in 2002 to study for a PhD, I have had two periods of serious illness - one in 2004 and I am currently being treated for bone lesions.
During my past and current period of illness, my contact with OSHC Worldcare and its staff has been very positive. This positive influence is evident in all the areas of OSHC Worldcare that I have had contact with. I would like to mention in particular the names of two staff who have been brilliant, Sarah Roberts and Vivienne Hidalgo, who have taken a lot of heartache out of trying to sort out the medical bills.
I believe the support that I have received has made a huge difference, as it has taken a lot of stress out of what might otherwise be a very stressful situation. I have been able to continue with my study towards a PhD and aim to complete in early 2009.”
